Emily in Paris Season 3
Episode No 7 Recap And Review
Gabriel is also asked after bumping into her on the sidewalk, and Mindy decides she should go too. He inadvertently spills some secrets on them by telling them that Camille is going to Greece for her show with Sofia.
After they leave, Emily admits that even though Camille knows she's having an affair with Sofia, she feels terrible about not telling Gabriel. Mindy thinks staying out of it is the smartest thing to do.
The next day at work, Emily and Sylvie visit Gregory's workspace, where he presents his design for Air France to the Agence Grateau staff, and he adds some drama, as usual. Much to Julie's delight, she hands out bags of condoms, lube, and poppers, all while coming up with a weird theory about the flight crew being dressed as doms and the travelers as submariners.
Silvie is forced to leave to answer the phone after everyone tries to tone it down, because Air France clearly doesn't want that kind of appearance for its employees. Gregory claims that he doesn't care what they think and shows his clothes as they are now.
Sylvie tells Emily and the others that Pierre Cadault, who left his firm to join the JVMA, is begging for management because he is unhappy with his store. He needs Sylvie and her group to stand by him and give him advice. When they get there, he pulls everyone into a store and tells Sylvie that no one at JVMA cares what she says and that JVMA is interfering with her vision. Sylvie advises him to stay put.
That evening, as Mindy prepares to watch a movie with Nicholas, a package from Gregory arrives at her apartment labeled Emily, and she passes it on. Mindy adores the little red beret, as well as the corset on the outfit, part of her Air France line, right after the airline rejected her creation.
Except for Mindy, who stands out in the film, everyone wears comfortable, relaxed clothing. Emily can't help herself and brings up Cadault's shop while talking to Nicholas. She describes the designer as "infuriating" and "never satisfied", expressing her frustration with him. She encourages him to stand firm after that, but she thinks that's enough business talk for the evening and apologizes.
Mindy appears at Emily's side shortly after they leave, informing her that they are in a "popular hookup spot." Eventually, she leaves to fetch Nikolai, leaving Emily to enjoy How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days with Gabriel.
While Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson begin to bicker on screen, many of the contestants are disgusted when Nicholas starts flirting with Gabriel before being quickly disciplined by one of his acquaintances, Emily. She shrugs and continues by asking Gabriel and Emily how long they've known each other. They pretend to be in relationships with other people and then break up.
On his way out, Gabriel claims that the audience enjoys seeing the two men struggle to resist their attraction to each other (trying to hint at their relationship), and Emily claims that the film is a cliché because the leads end up together. Separately from the screening, Emily and Gabriel enter a well-lit exhibit, taking one photo after another.
While Emily and Gabriel are having a good time, Mindy ends up hanging out with Nicholas. Both ask the other out for a drink while admitting they're not sure how much the other likes them. Nicholas quickly admitted that he was smitten with her the whole time. However, they don't get very far as they receive calls from Kadault and they interrupt and agree to meet again.
Gabriel and Emily call it a night, too, and head up the stairs of the apartment complex when he tells her about his problems with the not-so-sensitive Camille. Gabriel closes the door and says goodnight to Emily.
The next day, Emily receives a phone call from Nicolas and asks for help from Kadault and his firm. He is stunned, as is Sylvie, who arranges a dinner date with him to talk about it. However, the plan immediately goes horribly wrong when Nicolas announces that they will be working with Cadault's label and ditch the designer in favor of Gregory (his arch nemesis) to head the show. To make matters worse, Emily has to manage everything, having asked Kadault to come to dinner to celebrate.
The worst possible time for Cadault to show up is when Nicholas tells Sylvie and Emily how the JVMA kicked him out. We don't witness what happens after he is hit by a car while crossing the road to join everyone at the table.
Episode Review
This episode shows Emily and Gabriel hanging out together after a movie, with Gabriel completely unaware that Camille is dating Sofia. After a confrontation with Benoit, Mindy seems to have completely forgotten about Nicholas as she also goes after him.
At this point in the show, every other character is involved, leaving someone else's significant other, and that aspect is over-normalized.
The show also became very melodramatic in its approach. For example, we have repeatedly seen Pierre Cadault become angry and difficult to deal with due to his frequent mood swings and unpredictable showmanship. They try to portray Cadault in a good light, and Nicolas, who is rational in his judgments, as a bad guy, is similarly antagonized by Madeline, who explains the corruption in the firm of Savoir quite sensitively.
