Episode 10 of The Most Beautiful Flower opens with Fer admonishing Mitch, *checks notes* likening him to a grasshopper?! Mich intervenes and Fer finally gets to the bottom of the matter. No matter what he chooses to do with his life, Fer believes he should always do what he wants, but not hurt anyone along the way.
Of course, that's easier said than done considering she broke Majo's heart after kissing Dani at the end of the last episode. So what will Mich choose to do?
Not only is she confused about whether to choose 'Flower' or play Alice in 'Alice in Hochiland', but she has three potential matches, 'Majo', 'Dani' and 'Mati'. Quite a change from struggling to fit in at school during episode 1!
Why is Mich suddenly famous?
Mich's woes are made worse when Brenda sets up an entire Insta post for him, calling Mich his cousin, and the whole school actually recognizes him. He's even invited to hang out with the cool kids, giving him a taste of the high life he was hoping for exactly at the start of the season. But it comes at a cost. Brenda wants her to stop being Alice in order for this carnival to continue.
Mich needs to get his head in the game, but everywhere - from Dani to Mati and even Majo - he can't decide exactly what he wants and who he wants.
What does Brenda do to pay back Mich?
The next day, Mich makes up his mind and decides to play Alice regardless of the consequences. In fact, he sits next to Brenda and says "you're doing the worst!" He smiles tellingly.
"You'll regret it." Brenda says and walks away. Naturally, Brenda immediately takes to social media and makes a big post about how she got hacked. Unfortunately, a message arrives showing Mati and Mich kissing. Brenda is understandably heartbroken and doesn't show up for the big game, leaving Mich as the main star, not the sidekick.
Unfortunately, the play does not go as planned. The crowd immediately starts booing and shoving him off the stage, giving him major stage fright. He goes to the back where Tania and Yadi show up to comfort him. They also show the video, which confirms that they cheated on him because of his relationship with Brenda, not the performance itself. After this little pep talk, Mich returns to the stage, overcomes his fear, and begins again.
How does the most beautiful flower grow?
Mich absolutely kills it this time and with that he turns the crowd around who all start cheering for him. Afterwards, Mich goes home, but on the way, all three of his potential matches want to be with him. Mich walks past them all without answering, but things get even more complicated when Mich learns that Brenda will now be staying with them. As a result, Mich decides to become a Flower... but there's a problem. Brenda steps up and takes her place, carrying on the family legacy.
Episode Review
The ending of The Most Beautiful Flower resolves nothing. We don't find out who Mich chooses, and the rivalry with Brenda intensifies, hinting at season two. However, we do get to see Mich grow as a performer and take on the naysayers as well, which is a nice touch.
The season does an adequate job with the supporting players, but while Tania finally has a bit of a subplot with her father that involves her feminism and art, it doesn't really do much to expand on that. And Yadi doesn't get much of an arc at all!
Fourth wall breaking returns in this chapter and personally the series was crying out for more. The odd parts of the comedy could have been enhanced by adding more head tilts to the audience.
Despite all that, the finale was certainly enjoyable, but the lack of closure is a definite sticking point. Let's hope this is updated!
