  Santas is the latest Disney IP to get the serialized treatment, arriving in its regular Wednesday timeslot and featuring a comedic story across 6 episodes. Once you're done with it, you might think it's been updated or canceled. Here's what we know:




  What are Santa Clauses all about?

  Following the successful Christmas movie series, Santa Claus, this limited series picks up thirty years after the events that led to his becoming Santa Claus. Scott Calvin's magic is starting to fade and as he approaches the age of 65, he realizes he can't be Santa forever. The only solution is to find a replacement to take over while he prepares his family for a new adventure in the South Pole. 



 Along the way, Scott discovers a new dam that forces him to rethink his role as Santa and father.




  Has Santa Claus been renewed for season 2?

  At the time of writing, Santa Claus has not been renewed for a second season.  


  Usually Disney, along with other broadcasters, measures a number of metrics before renewing a show, including how many people watch it initially and then looking at the release rate. Some shows have quick cancellations or renewals. Other times, it can take months for Disney to make a decision about a show's future.


  So far, The Santas has received mixed reviews from audiences and critics, with most bemoaning the tone and deciding to split it into separate episodes rather than presenting it as a fun holiday movie.

  Given how this show is set up, there is definitely potential for a sequel. However, given that Disney is predicting a 1.5 billion loss this quarter, most of which comes from streaming, we're going to go ahead and predict that it won't be renewed for a second season. 




 What we know so far about season 2

  At this point, almost nothing is known about season 2, given that Disney hasn't greenlit a sequel, at least not yet. However, if this is renewed, we can expect about a year of rewind time and another season to drop in Christmas 2023. If the show gets renewed, we could see the entire cast returning for a new series, even though the show is meant to be a limited series. Christmas looms, along with plenty of family drama.
