Story:
Somehow, he is removed from his post and rejoins the post with the help of DIG Kamal (Prabhu). One day, Kamal asks Veera (Ramana), the son of don Sura (Guneshli P.N.), who wants to enter politics, to beat the hell out of him. But Veera Murali decides to take revenge on Krishna. What happens next and how Krishna treats them forms the crux of the story.
Extra Points:
This kind of role is a piece of cake for actor Vishal. The performance of a sincere police constable who cares for the community and family is admirable. He does his best and only lifts the film. Vishal has to be appreciated for his dedication when it comes to fight sequences. He is very intense in action scenes.
Sunainaa gets a decent role and she does justice to her character. The rest of the actors are suitable for their roles. Kid Lirish Raghav plays the given role well. He performs well in the emotional scenes at the climax.
The story is simple and easily predictable. But debutant director A Vinoth Kumar's way of directing the show is a bit off-putting. He manages to make the movie decent. As the promos say, it's best to watch the last 40 minutes of the movie. Peter Hein gets all the credit for composing the mesmerizing fight sequences.
Negative points:
It seems that the director is focusing only on Vishal's character. He manages to write good scenes for the main character but fails to write the rest effectively. The hero will only be emphasized if the antagonist is cruel. This is where the director should pay more attention. Scenes involving villains are ineffective. Furthermore, the director takes an ordinary story and tries hard to narrate it in an engaging way.
On the other hand, the songs are ineffective. The director could get music director Yuvan Shankar Raja to compose beautiful tunes. However, Yuvan's score is decent and it does a lot to make the action sequences interesting.
The main point to discuss is the casting. The director had to cast familiar faces for the villain roles. It creates suspense by not revealing the face of the villain until the break. Unfortunately, the villain is unfamiliar to most of the audience and his performance is also average.
Technical Aspects:
The director tries to narrate an ordinary police drama in an attractive manner. Injecting a few twists and turns could have made the film a better action drama. The score is good and so is the cinematography. The fight sequences are shot in such a way that one gets a sense of excitement. Production values are neat and dubbing is also good.
Verdict:
Overall, Laatti is an average cop drama with a dated plot and screenplay. The rest of the characters, especially the gang of villains, are unimpressive. Those who don't care about the story but love to watch a movie for some action sequences can watch the movie this weekend.
